Novicetronics - A Little Knowledge Goes A Long Way!

Hi all and welcome to my blog. I thought I would start by introducing myself and giving you a little background  about me and why I'm starting this blog.

My name is Ian, I'm 29 and got into electronics around 2 years ago. I started with a few resistors, led's various batteries etc and expanded from there. My biggest vice is Ebay which is where I spend most of my time sourcing components for projects. I was recently gifted (i got asked what I would like for my bday!!!) an Arduino Mega 1280 clone board (more info here Arduino) by my very patient and long suffering girlfriend. And the rest, as they say, is history! Well not quite but it leads here!!

Now is probably a good time to explain that I have no background what so ever in electronics but with a little bit of patience and a lot 'o' googlin' and of course huge support from various forums (I'll try to remember to link as I go along) I have arrived at the not too shabby level of what I call "Advanced Novice". I know what your thinking! How can you be and advanced novice? Simple answer: I ain't no expert but i usually arrive at my desired destination feeling satisfied that i've learned as much as I can along the way! Which leads me to my title - "A Little Knowledge Goes A Long way".

So what can you expect? Well don't expect too much I don't wanna let anyone down, but I will endeavour to give you as much info on the projects I'm working on and hopefully some ideas of your own, or just a resource to follow along and copy my projects. That is, of course if it interests you. I can't offer a huge amount of support outside of the projects posted here, but I'll do me best for ya!

Well that's all for now, the first project I'm gonna be working on is the classic DIY Ambilight system for my TV. Search "Ambilight" on Youtube for some vids (the official explanation from youtube below), and remember nothing is unachievable with a little patience.

See ya soon!!
